Alex Wong/Getty Images President Donald Trump announced on social media that he has spoken with Colombian President Gustavo Petro, just days after threatening to invade his country. In a Wednesday night Truth Social post, Trump wrote that he had spoken to Petro, “who called to explain the situation of drugs and other disagreements that we have had.” “I appreciated his call and tone, and look forward to meeting him in the near future‚” Trump continued, before adding that arrangements were being made between Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Colombia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Rosa Yolanda Villavicencio, for a meeting at the White House.
