CITY OF CALAPAN — The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) station in Gasan rescued 50 passengers from a motorbanca carrying a large cargo of rice after the vessel developed engine trouble off the coast of Gasan, Marinduque, on Thursday, Jan. 8. The incident involved MBCA Emarsan, which experienced mechanical failure around noon while navigating approximately 5.5 nautical miles (10 kilometers) off Barangay Bachao Ibaba, according to the PCG.
