'May the best team win!' - Nigeria and Algeria set for AFCON quarter-final showdown

"The Nigeria national football team are preparing for a quarter-final clash against Algeria at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, with the two sides set to meet on Saturday. Footage shows Nigeria’s players training in Marrakesh on Friday, followed by a press conference attended by head coach Eric Schell and winger Moses Simon. Schell acknowledged the challenge posed by Algeria ahead of the highly anticipated fixture. “We have a strong team that we will face tomorrow. May the best team win,” he said. Simon echoed the competitive balance of the tournament, warning against underestimating any side. “So, it's not the time to talk about teams or not teams. Every team is really good in this competition. You can see every African team now, they are good and they progress a lot. Just so there is no small teams and there is no big team anymore,” he said. Nigeria reached the quarter-finals after a commanding 4–0 victory over Mozambique in the round of 16, while Algeria booked their place with a 1–0 win against Congo. The 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, hosted by Morocco, runs from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026."
