Deadline looms! Costa Rican top electoral body kicks off preparation for presidential elections

"Costa Rican Supreme Electoral Tribunal (TSE) kicked off preparations for presidential elections, as less than a month is left before the vote. Footage filmed on Friday in San Jose shows dozens of TSE workers inspecting electoral materials at a warehouse. "A total of around 7,100 packages are being assembled, corresponding to the exact number of polling stations that will be operating on that day," director of TSE Electoral Registry Gerardo Abarca Guzman said. "The process follows a production-line system with three dedicated stations, each responsible for placing the 30 required materials and documents used during the voting process into every package," he added.   The first round of national general elections is planned for February 1. On election day, poll stations will be open from 06:00 (12:00 GMT) to 18:00 (00:00 GMT). The results are expected to be announced between two and three hours after the closing of the polling stations. The elections come amid tightened relations between current Costa Rican President Rodrigo Chaves and the TSE. Last December, the electoral authority instigated a Congress vote on stripping Chavez of his immunity over alleged electoral fraud."
