"The '1 Billion Followers Summit' - billed as the world’s largest gathering focused on the content-creator economy - opened in Dubai on Friday, drawing tens of thousands of attendees alongside leading global influencers. Footage shows visitors streaming into venues including the Museum of the Future, where the opening programme featured an address by Mohammad Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs, alongside appearances by prominent content creators. Among participants was Adil Sajwani, a family-medicine specialist and medical content creator, who said he was keen to contribute to discussions on responsibility and regulation in online content. He is due to take part in a panel examining the boundaries of accountability in digital spaces, particularly in healthcare. “This will be an intense and important discussion, especially regarding the healthcare sector. Should a health content creator be a licensed doctor with a solid medical background? Or can anyone appear on social media and provide medical information without accountability?” he said. Also speaking ahead of his session was Kareem Deeb, co-founder of ArabGT, who is scheduled to join a panel titled 'Quality vs. Continuity?'. Deeb said the discussion reflected his own experience following more than 16 years of producing automotive content online. The summit runs from January 9 to January 11 across multiple locations, including Jumeirah Emirates Towers, the Dubai International Financial Centre, and the Museum of the Future, under the theme 'Content for Good'. The Emirates News Agency reported that the event has attracted more than 30,000 attendees, including over 15,000 content creators and regional and international influencers, alongside more than 500 speakers whose combined online following exceeds 3.5 billion. The programme includes contributions from 150 CEOs and global experts, delivered across more than 580 sessions, including keynotes, roundtables, interactive discussions and workshops."
