"A large-scale destruction was spotted across Aleppo city's Sheikh Maqsoud neighbourhood, following clashes between the transitional government forces and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF). Footage captured on Saturday shows damaged buildings and vehicles, while residents were fleeing the area with their personal belongings. The transitional government's Internal Security forces could also be seen deploying in the streets. Earlier on Saturday, the transitional government's Ministry of Interior confirmed that Internal Security Forces 'have begun deploying in the Sheikh Maqsoud neighbourhood of Aleppo,' noting that operations to 'eliminate the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF)' were completed. Meanwhile, the Syrian army's Operations Command declared "a halt to all military operations in the Sheikh Maqsoud neighbourhood in Aleppo starting at 3:00 pm." For its part, the SDF dismissed these allegations saying in its statement today that "the so-called Ministry of Defence of the Damascus government claimed ceasefire and halted fighting in the Sheikh Maqsoud neighbourhood in a blatant attempt to deceive the public opinion." The statement further affirmed that SDF forces 'deflected a fierce attack' carried out by the transitional government forces in western neighbourhood. Clashes flared up between the two sides a few days ago with the SDF and transitional government forces trading blame for targeting civilians. The escalation comes two days after a meeting between both sides to discuss the implementation of 'March agreement' as a pertinent deadline has expired. The meeting however did not yield results. On March 10, an agreement had been signed between President of the transitional government, Ahmed Al Sharaa and SDF commander Mazloum Abdi "to integrate all civil and military institutions of the Kurdish self-administration into the Syrian state" by end of 2025. The agreement has not yet been implemented at the time of publication given the periodic clashes between the two parties. In December 2024, The current transitional government took over the power in Syria. Later, Ahmad al-Sharaa was appointed Syria's transitional president, pledging an 'inclusive technocratic' government."
