Teacher injured in altercation with student in Northern Samar town

TACLOBAN CITY, LEYTE, Philippines — A public school teacher was hurt in an altercation with one of his students in Mondragon town, Northern Samar, on Sunday (Jan.11), police reported. The incident occurred at 12:20 a.m. in Sitio Banika, Barangay Bugko, where the 45-year-old teacher, identified by police as alias “Rohel,” was reportedly mauled during a drinking session. Police said the victim, a resident of Barangay Quirino in Las Navas, also in Northern Samar, was with a 17-year-old companion when the suspect, alias “Jari,” 19, a Grade 11 student from Barangay Zone 1, San Roque, allegedly became aggressive.
