Finnish rower rescued from Atlantic after storm

Finnish ocean rower Jari Saario , 53, was rescued from the Atlantic Ocean during the early hours of Sunday after drifting in distress for close to 24 hours amid a storm. Saario was taken aboard the cargo vessel Cymona Eagle at about 2.30am Finnish time, according to information shared on his social media account and confirmed by Finnish maritime authorities. The rescue followed an emergency that began on Friday evening Finnish time, when Saario encountered severe weather while rowing alone far from land.
