'We’ll never stop fighting for democracy' – Anti-government protests sweep Tel Aviv, call for Netanyahu to step down

"Mass protests swept through the streets of Tel Aviv on Saturday evening, urging Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his government to step down due to what demonstrators describe as ' corruption and lack of democracy.' Footage captures crowds gathering in Hostages Square, while hoisting flags and signs. The protesters can then be seen marching through the streets of Tel Aviv amid heightened police presence. Protester Paula described the Netanyahu government as 'anti-democracy and anti of people of Israel and people of Palestine.' "We will never stop fighting for democracy, ever. If we do not continue going out to the streets and saying: we need a democratic, liberal and equal government and people, we will never continue to exist," she added. In addition to facing corruption trials at home, Netanyahu is also the subject of an International Criminal Court (ICC) arrest warrant. The court issued warrants in November 2024 for both the PM and former defence minister Yoav Gallant, alleging war crimes and crimes against humanity in the Gaza Strip. Netanyahu dismissed these charges as being politically motivated, while claiming that the military offensives target Hamas militants only. "
