KARACHI: Sindh Solid Waste Management Board meeting was held to review the garbage collection system and devise a strategy to repair garbage collection vehicles, dustbins, and prevent garbage bin theft. Chaired by Managing Director, Sindh Solid Waste Management Board, Tariq Ali Nizamani, the meeting was attended by Executive Director Operation Ahsan Raza, Director Sabir Shah, Qasim Namai, Ghulam Abbas Memon and concerned officers of all districts and officials of Chinese companies. SSWMB’s Managing Director said that cleanliness should be visible in the city. Cleanliness on the roadsides and immediate elimination of illegal garbage dumps should be ensured at all places. He directed all the concerned officers and officials of the companies to carry out the work responsibly. Negligence will not be tolerated. Heavy fines will be imposed on the companies for not doing the work as per the agreement. He said that the efficiency of the overall garbage collection operation needs to be improved. All vehicles and mechanical machinery should be on-road and tracker-equipped. That, all companies should immediately replace dilapidated garbage bins and coordinate with the concerned district administration to resolve this issue, from where complaints of garbage bin theft are being received.
