MANILA, Philippines – Consumers of Manila Electric Co. (Meralco) are welcoming the new year with cheaper power rates as the electricity distributor announced a new rate cut for January. In a briefing Monday, the company said electricity rates this month would be slashed by P0.1637 per kilowatt hour (kWh), bringing down the overall rate for a typical household to P12.9508 per kWh.
