PCG: Tanker that ran aground in Surigao del Norte spills no oil

SAN FRANCISCO, Agusan del Sur — The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said no oil spill has been observed from the Philippine-flagged tanker grounded in Burgos, Surigao del Norte. Capt. Noemie Cayabyab, PCG spokesperson, said authorities are still determining whether the vessel’s hull has been breached. The tanker, identified as MT Cheng Xian Feng 168, ran aground at Barangay Poblacion 1 in Burgos on Sunday, Jan. 11, after experiencing engine trouble en route to Homonhon, Leyte, the PCG said.
