NBI wants charges filed vs 12 DPWH officials in Davao over flood control scam

MANILA, Philippines — The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has recommended to the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) the filing of charges against 12 officials of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in Davao Region over alleged irregularities in a flood control project. The agency said its validation of an investigation initiated by the ICI revealed that some projects in the region were left incomplete or constructed below standard. The bureau also noted potential issues in the fund utilization process for these projects. The NBI said it would also recommend to the Department of Justice that charges be filed against the implicated officials. Earlier, charges were filed against eight DPWH officials in Davao Occidental for their alleged involvement in a flood control project in Malita town. Those officials are now detained at Lapu-Lapu City Jail.
