Critics are calling out President Donald Trump for posting a wild image of himself on Sunday, complete with an outrageous new title. On his Truth Social platform, Trump posted a mock Wikipedia-style image showing himself as “acting president of Venezuela ” as of January 2026. Earlier this month, Trump sent the US military into Venezuela to remove its leader, Nicolás Maduro , and bring him to New York to stand trial on drug trafficking charges. Trump did not obtain approval from Congress, leading to a bipartisan rebuke in the Senate. Delcy Rodríguez, who had been serving as Maduro’s vice president, is ostensibly the interim president, but after the operation, Trump said that the US would be running the country. Trump also has designs on Venezuela’s oil , and last week he discussed the issue with industry executives at the White House. The new post showing him as “acting president of Venezuela” suggests Trump indeed sees himself as in charge of that country.
