Sadiq Khan Says Donald Trump Is 'A Bit Jealous' Of Him In Brutal Slapdown

Sadiq Khan makes a speech after he is re-elected for a record third time as Mayor of London in 2024. Sadiq Khan has accused Donald Trump of being “a bit jealous of him” as new figures revealed London’s murder rate has plummeted. The London mayor hit out just a month after the US president said he was “horrible” and suggested he only won because immigrants to the capital voted for him. It was just the latest in a long line of insults Trump has aimed at Khan in recent years. New data released on Monday morning showed that 97 homicides were recorded in London in 2025, down from 153 in 2019. On Radio 4′s Today programme, presenter Emma Barnett told Khan: “You have been described by President Trump as a horrible mayor, incompetent, vicious, disgusting, a disaster. “You’ve called him a bully. I wonder, do you think you’ve been sufficiently defended by Downing Street and Sir Keir Starmer ?” The mayor replied: “I sometimes feel like I’m nine years old again with this tit for tat stuff with President Trump. I’ve got the full support of not just the government but, more importantly, Londoners.” Pressed again on whether he believes he has been defended by the PM, Khan said: “I’ve had the full support of the prime minister, the foreign secretary and from the government and from Londoners. “What today shows is why we are the greatest city in the world and why President Trump is a bit jealous.” Responding to Trump’s most recent criticisms of Khan last month, a spokesman for Starmer said: “The mayor of London is doing an excellent job delivering free school meals in primary schools, cleaning up London’s air, introducing the world’s largest clean air zone, and building record numbers of council houses. “The prime minister is proud of the mayor of London’s record and proud to call him a colleague and friend.” khan Downing Street Hits Back At Trump's Attack On 'Disgusting' Sadiq Khan No.10 Refuses To Criticise Trump After He Slams Europe And 'Disgusting' Sadiq Khan Sadiq Khan Reignites Donald Trump Feud By Backing Zohran Mamdani
