MANILA, Philippines — The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) announced on Monday the cancellation of at least eight domestic flights due Mayon’s volcanic activity. The aviation regulator extended the Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) for flights near the volcano, effective 1:39 a.m. on January 12 until 12 a.m. on January 13. That following flights have been canceled: Cebu Pacific 5J321 (Manila-Daraga) 5J322 (Daraga-Manila) 5J325 (Manila-Daraga) 5J326 (Daraga-Manila) 5J172 (Cebu-Daraga) 5J173 (Daraga-Cebu) Philippine Airlines PR2921 (Manila-Daraga) PR2922 (Daraga-Manila) CAAP assured the public that personnel at Bicol International Airport are providing assistance to affected passengers. The agency also said that it continues to monitor the situation closely, reiterating that aviation safety remains its top priority.
