'Balanced and inclusive' - FM Jaishankar underscores BRICS cooperation amid global challenges as India unveils 2026 summit logo

"India unveiled the logo and website for its upcoming BRICS chairmanship on Tuesday in New Delhi, with Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar outlining the theme: "Building for resilience, innovation, cooperation and sustainability" for the 2026 summit. Footage shows Ministers of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh and Pabitra Margherita, along with the foreign minister, posing for photos on stage ahead of the logo reveal. Jaishankar stressed that 20 years since the BRICS' inception, it has 'steadily evolved' into a platform for cooperation among developing economies. He further noted that the bloc has expanded its agenda while remaining focused on 'people-centric development.' Referring to global challenges, the foreign minister said the current environment is marked by "geopolitical uncertainties, complicated economic landscapes, climate-related risks, technological changes, and persistent development gaps" affecting countries across regions. "Our Chairship theme building for resilience, innovation, cooperation, and sustainability reflects our belief that cooperation among BRICS members can help address shared challenges in a balanced and in an inclusive manner," he continued. The unveiled logo blends tradition with modernity, with petals reflecting the colours of member countries. A central 'Namaste' gesture is intended to convey respectful collaboration. The 2026 summit will be the 18th annual gathering of BRICS. The intergovernmental organisation, launched in 2006, now comprises ten members: Brazil, China, Egypt, Ethiopia, India, Indonesia, Iran, Russia, South Africa, and the United Arab Emirates."
