"A one-year-old boy passed away at Al-Aqsa Hospital on Tuesday; the latest victim of the enclave's harsh winter, with both heating and shelter increasingly scarce. "We woke up in the morning to find him dead," said the father of Maher Al-Basyoun. "We rushed him to the hospital immediately; that is what happened. We are living in a tent. His mother was the one who woke up first in the morning; we hadn't slept the entire night because of the intense wind and rain. We were awake, waiting, and only managed to doze for about an hour. Upon waking, we found that he had passed away." Footage shows the body of the youngster as well as funeral prayers. "Over 1.5 million displaced individuals across Gaza are living in tents. In the last two days, winds and rain have destroyed over 7,000 tents. Hospitals have recorded seven fatalities from the extreme cold in these tents and shelters," doctor Ismail Al-Thawabta explained. He appealed for more aid to enter, more crossings to open and more shelter materials in particular 'before it's too late'. The Gaza Health Ministry confirmed "the death of a one-year-old child due to severe cold, bringing the number of child fatalities from the cold this winter to 7.  Additionally, three residents died due to a building collapse, raising the total collapse death toll to 24." Local media reported that around 127,000 out of 135,000 tents were uninhabitable due to the harsh conditions and a lack of bedding and heating.
