LPA turns into tropical depression

MANILA, Philippines—The low pressure area (LPA) off Davao has intensified into a tropical depression called Ada, the first storm to hit the country in 2026, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said on Wednesday. Nathaniel Servando, Pagasa chief, told The Manila Times that the LPA would affect areas in Eastern Visayas as well as Mindanao. Initial forecast indicated that the hoisting of wind signal would be likely as a landfall scenario has not been ruled out.
