SSWMB, Blue Net organise beach cleaning

KARACHI: Sindh Solid Waste Management Board in collaboration with Blue Net organized a beach cleaning, awareness and plastic-free campaign. Representatives of SSWMB and Blue Net, and a large number of citizens participated. They collected garbage from the beach and put it in bags. SSWMB staff helped to safely transport to the designated locations. MD, SSWMB, Tariq Ali Nizamani, in his message, said that the participation of women, the youth and children in the campaign is very encouraging. Through collective efforts, he said, we can achieve our goal of the prosperity and development of the country and nation. He said that strong communication with the community is very important to ensure a clean and green future. “You and all of us must work together for the betterment of the city.” He said it is the responsibility of institutions to provide citizens with a clean and pollution-free environment. However, to achieve this goal, every citizen would have to contribute positively. On this occasion, CEO of Blue Net, Dr. Nuzhat, said that if all institutions and the citizens play their due roles, the city can be kept clean. She appealed to the public to throw garbage only in the dustbins and avoid using plastic, as garbage and plastic bags are clogging the rivers and causing pollution on the beaches. During the campaign, all participants collected garbage from the beach and put it in bags, which the Sindh Solid Waste Management Board staff helped to safely transport to the designated locations.
