Kit in character as Jon Snow in Game Of Thrones Kit Harington has admitted that there was one part of the fan backlash over the Game Of Thrones series finale that really irked him. The Industry star played Jon Snow in all eight seasons of Game Of Thrones, which came to an end in 2019 with a final season which it’s no secret that many viewers were unhappy about , with more than a million even signing a petition calling for the last run of episodes to be remade “with competent writers” . Speaking to The New York Times , the Industry actor said that this petition “genuinely angered him” at the time. “Like, how dare you?” the British actor fumed. “Sorry, that’s just how I feel. “I think it was a level of idiocy that can only come about through social media.” Kit Harington at an Industry premiere in 2024 Back in 2024, Kit shared his take on the divisive finale, telling British GQ : “I think if there was any fault with the end of Thrones, is that we were all so fucking tired, we couldn’t have gone on longer. “And so I understand some people thought it was rushed and I might agree with them. But I’m not sure there was any alternative.” He continued: “I look at pictures of me in that final season and I look exhausted. I look spent. I didn’t have another season in me.” Of the backlash, he said: “Everyone is entitled to their opinion. I think there were mistakes made, story-wise, towards the end maybe. I think there were some interesting choices that didn’t quite work.” Kit had originally been tipped to reprise the role of Jon Snow in a Game Of Thrones spin-off centred around that character, but eventually “kind of backed out” because “nothing got us excited enough” to justify the risk. “If we push this any further and keep developing it we could end up with something that’s not good. And that’s the last thing we all want,” he said during the same British GQ interview .
