"Thousands of people in the northeastern Syrian city of Kobani gathered on Tuesday to bid farewell to five individuals killed in the Sheikh Maqsoud neighbourhood of Aleppo during clashes with transitional government forces. Footage shows crowds of mourners taking part in a funeral procession marching through the streets, carrying the coffins of the victims while chanting: 'With our souls and blood we will sacrifice for you, martyr'. Kurdish Internal Security Forces (Asayish) personnel can also be seen bowing in honour to their fallen colleagues and commanders as mourners held photos of the deceased, including those of an Aleppo Asayish commander who was killed during the clashes. "Today in Kobani, we mourned five martyrs, including three members of the internal security forces from Aleppo, who were martyred while intercepting a barbaric attack on the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafiyeh neighborhoods perpetrated by two countries. These two small neighborhoods were shelled with artillery and heavy weapons. They gave their lives to protect their people," Maryam Rashid Bilal, a displaced woman from Aleppo, remarked. "France and the United States had declared their support for the Kurds, but during the six-day fighting and resistance by our heroes in Aleppo's neighborhoods, we saw no support or solidarity - neither from the US nor France, nor from the international community," she continued. Bilal also denounced human rights organisations for 'remaining silent' amid the clashes, which she described as 'violations' and 'people being annihilated'. This came after deadly clashes between the transitional government forces and the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in the neighborhoods of Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafiyeh. Both sides blamed each other for targeting civilians, leaving many dead and injured, with many others fleeing their homes. On Sunday, SDF commander Gen. Mazloum Abdi announced that an understanding had been reached for a ceasefire in Aleppo following international mediation.  According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR). The death toll since escalation began in Aleppo's neighborhoods has mounted to 107, including 47 civilians (8 women and 6 children), mostly from Sheikh Maqsoud. Additional casualties were reported from the Al Midan and Ashrafiyeh neighbourhoods, including cases of field executions and the suffocation of a child due to gas inhalation. The deaths of 59 military personnel, including members of the Syrian transitional government's Ministry of Defence and Asayish forces, were confirmed during the fighting in Sheikh Maqsoud. Cases of body burnings and mutilations were also documented. Furthermore, a large number of individuals remain missing, with their fates unknown, due to the near-total communications and internet services outage in the region, the SOHR reported. The escalation comes days after a meeting between both sides to discuss the implementation of the 'March agreement' as a pertinent deadline expired. The meeting, however, did not yield results. On March 10, an agreement was inked between the President of the transitional government, Ahmed Al Sharaa, and SDF commander Mazloum Abdi to integrate all civil and military institutions of the Kurdish self-administration into the Syrian state by the end of 2025.  The agreement has not yet been implemented at the time of publication, with periodic clashes between the two parties."
