The Starbucks café inside the Academic Bookstore building in central Helsinki will close by the end of March 2026, following the expiry of its lease agreement. The closure marks the end of a 13-year presence at the high-profile corner of Pohjoisesplanadi and Keskuskatu. Operated under franchise by SSP Finland, the café opened in 2013 in the building known as Kirjatalo, designed by architect Alvar Aalto . The structure remains home to the Academic Bookstore. The café’s closure will leave three Starbucks outlets in operation nationwide.
