PLB board passers get incentives guarantee

Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto on Wednesday announced plans to convert existing incentives for Pamantasang Lungsod ng Pasig (PLP) board passers into a permanent ordinance, saying the city council is working to institutionalize the benefits during the university’s testimonial ceremony on Jan. 14. Sotto said the incentives are currently covered by a standing resolution passed several years ago. Discussions with Councilor Simon Tantoco and the education committee are underway to make the policy permanent. He emphasized that the move is part of the city’s long-term commitment to education, which Pasig continues to support — from child development programs and K-12 assistance to tertiary, technical-vocational education, and scholarship programs for students who are unable to enroll at PLP. “I know that the investment of your local government, of our city university, and of the taxpayers of Pasig in your lives is truly worth it, because there is no better investment than education,” Sotto said. The mayor added that the success of PLP board passers motivates local officials to improve public service, while urging graduates to live with integrity, excellence, and diligence as they enter the next stage of their professional lives.
