Epstein brokered meetings between Ehud Barak and UAE billionaire before Abraham Accords: Report Submitted by MEE staff on Wed, 01/14/2026 - 21:42 Disgraced financier and CEO of DP World shared a lewd joke over email as Epstein sought to 'leverage' UAE-Israel ties The New York State sex offender registry photo for Jeffrey Epstein (AFP) Off Convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein brokered backchannel meetings between former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak and UAE billionaire Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, the CEO of Dubai's international port operator DP World, according to leaked emails. The trove of emails, reported by Drop Site News on Wednesday , underscored the close relationship between Epstein and the Emirati insider. DP World is owned by the emirate of Dubai. It has expanded across the Middle East and Africa with the support of the UAE’s foreign policy. DP World's operations have come under renewed focus amid the UAE's rivalry with Saudi Arabia in the Red Sea. In 2013, Epstein pitched a meeting with Sulayem to Barak on the grounds that the former was “the right hand of maktoum”, an apparent reference to Mohammed bin Rashid al-Maktoum, the ruler of Dubai and vice president of the UAE. According to Dropsite, Barak and Sulayem met several times in meetings arranged by Epstein. Epstein attempted to facilitate an investment by Sulayem in an Israeli logistics chain in July 2013 and asked Barak for his opinion. At the time, the Israeli politician had just left government after having served as minister of defence and deputy prime minister until March 2013. “I think it’s a little bit too early. Probably once (and IF) we’ll start getting deeper into a sincere peace process. Or alternatively after the next revolution on either side of the ME barricades,” Barak wrote, according to the leaked email. “[But] I think we have to think harder on how to leverage this acquaintance,” he added. The UAE normalised ties with Israel under the 2020 Abraham Accords, which also saw Morocco and Bahrain establish formal relations. 'Praise Allah for people like you' The US framed the Abraham Accords as a historic breakthrough, but in reality, as the Epstein emails reveal, the UAE and Israel had deep intelligence and business backchannel ties for decades. Epstein was found dead in his New York City jail cell in 2019. Thousands of the late financiers' emails have been released amid congressional pressure. Some have exposed work that appears to show him working as a private diplomat and intelligence fixer, for example, by arranging a security deal between Israel and Mongolia and talks with Russia over Syria’s civil war. In the 1980s, Epstein also had ties to Saudi arms dealer Adnan Khashoggi, who coordinated with US and Israeli officials during the 1980s Iran-Contra affair. Epstein hosted Sulayem at his private Caribbean island, Little St James. His earliest correspondence with Sulayem dates back to 2007, according to the Drop Site News report. By then, Epstein had already been indicted on sexual abuse charges. He and the Emirati billionaire shared a lewd joke about a mutual female friend. In November 2007, Epstein wrote to Sulayem that he heard a “funny story” from a woman they both knew, to which the Emirati billionaire replied: “Yes after several attemps (sic) for several months we managed to meet in NY. There is a missunderstanding (sic) she she wanted some BUSINESS! while i only wanted some PUSSYNESS!” ”Praise Allah, there are still people like you,” Epstein replied.
