Taal Volcano stays calm amid increased gas emissions

LUCENA CITY, Quezon – Taal Volcano in Batangas province showed a slight increase in sulfur dioxide (SO₂) emissions, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported on Thursday. During the 24-hour monitoring period, Phivolcs recorded toxic gas emissions of 180 metric tons, slightly higher than the average 150 metric tons per day since January 9, and the 78 metric tons recorded from January 1 to 8.
