"Senegal football fans filled the streets of Dakar on Wednesday to celebrate the national team's AFCON semifinal victory over Egypt. Nevertheless, the jubilation was overshadowed by concerns after the Trump administration suspended US visa processing for citizens of 75 countries, casting uncertainty over supporters' plans to travel to the US for the World Cup this summer. "We don't listen to the President of the United States, we Senegalese and our supporters are going to the World Cup, he can go to hell," one expressed his dissent. "In all European, African or Asian countries, when you organise a World Cup, you must invite everyone; truly everyone must participate," another pointed out. The US State Department announced on Wednesday an indefinite suspension of immigrant visa processing for citizens of 75 countries, including Guatemala, citing a reassessment of its 'public charge' screening protocols. In a post on X, the department said migrants from the affected countries "benefit from social assistance from the American people at unacceptable rates," adding that the pause will remain in place until the US "can ensure that new immigrants do not benefit from the wealth of the American people." The suspension is set to take effect on January 21. Countries affected include Iran, Russia, Georgia, Brazil, Colombia, Ghana, Kuwait and Thailand, among others. Footage also shows football fans gathering at various corners of Dakar to watch the AFCON semifinal, where supporters erupted in celebrations after Senegal edged Egypt through Sadio Mane's late goal. "I am really happy because Senegal won, and especially for Sadio Mane because his goal was so beautiful. I am very proud," shared a fan. Senegal will face Morocco in the final on January 19, after the hosts beat Nigeria 4-2 on penalties in the second semifinal."
