10 Destinations For The 'Best Chance Of Sun' In The Easter Holidays

After a long, dark (not to mention cold) winter, I’m certainly longing for a spot of sunshine – and I won’t be the only one. If you’re after a hearty dose of vitamin Sea this Easter, easyJet Holidays have devised the ultimate list of easy-to-fly-to destinations where sunshine is pretty much guaranteed. This year, Easter falls on 5 April, with lots of schools being off from 30 March. Using climate data from the last 25 years, easyJet ranked destinations by the percentage of predominantly sunny and dry days in April – with Sharm El Sheikh in Egypt topping the list, followed by Sal in Cape Verde. Both Sharm El Sheikh and Sal boast around a 100% reliability rate for sunny and dry days during the Easter break, according to the holiday brand. Egypt’s purpose-built family resort city claimed the top spot thanks to its daily highs between 28°C and 30°C, and 10-11 hours of sunshine per day. Ranking in third place is Gran Canaria, where the chance of rain per day ranges from 5% to 15%, followed by Tenerife, which bathes in more manageable 23°C temperatures (great for families with younger kids). Not far geographically from the Canaries is the Moroccan coast – home to surf town Agadir, where travellers can expect sandy beaches and temperatures of 24°C. Three hours down the road is Marrakech, where sun reliability without rain is between 90% to 95%, with highs of 27°C. For those after sunshine and a history lesson, Paphos ranks highly – easyJet’s data found around 87% of April days boast reliable sunshine and temperatures in the twenties in the beautiful coastal Cypriot city. And don’t forget Portugal’s ever-popular Algarve, as well as Sicily, off the southern coast of Italy, both of which provide a perfect holiday escape – with the sun-reliability index percentage sitting firmly in the 80s.
