Warm welcome for coldest competition! - Ice artists from China, South Korea, Belarus join Russia for Siberia's sculpture extravaganza

"The 'Magic Ice of Siberia' festival and competition was underway on the Central Embankment of the Yenisei River in Russia's Krasnoyarsk, with footage from Tuesday shows artists crafting stunning designs from huge blocks of ice. "This is the first time South Korea has joined us. Last year and this year, teams from China, Mongolia, and Belarus have also participated once again. Russia has expanded its presence this year as well, with some new teams and several teams in Krasnoyarsk for the first time," said Larisa Blagodatskaya, Deputy Head of the Event Management Department at Krasgorpark. South Korea's Hong Sung-tae said he'd attended many events all over the world - but this one had been 'executed flawlessly' and it was a 'real pleasure to work here'. "Our work is semi-abstract and somewhat challenging to interpret. The title is 'Memory of the Soul'. While the piece is quite intricate, its large size suggests it will be durable and long-lasting," he added. Residents and visitors of Krasnoyarsk can enjoy the 'Magic Ice of Siberia' festival from January 6-17."
