NA Speaker discusses political situation with Kundi, other parliamentary leaders

ISLAMABAD: Speaker of the National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq on Thursday held separate meetings with the Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Faisal Karim Kundi, and other key parliamentary leaders, including Speaker of the Sindh Assembly Awais Qadir Shah and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Fatemi, to discuss the country’s political situation, parliamentary cooperation, and strengthening federal-provincial coordination. During the meeting with Governor Kundi at the Parliament House, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq highlighted the importance of consultation and mutual cooperation among all constitutional and legislative institutions for the stability of the democratic system. He stressed that Parliament represents the aspirations of the people and that legislation and policymaking should proceed through consensus in the national interest. He further emphasized that strong coordination between the federation and the provinces is essential for national stability, development, and public welfare. Governor Faisal Karim Kundi lauded the role of Parliament and reaffirmed that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa would continue to work closely with the federal government to promote democratic values and address public concerns. Earlier, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq met with Sindh Assembly Speaker Awais Qadir Shah and PM Special Assistant Tariq Fatemi to discuss enhancing cooperation among legislative bodies, promoting parliamentary linkages, improving the quality of legislation, and strengthening federal-provincial coordination. The speakers and the special assistant emphasized that close communication between national and provincial assemblies is vital not only for effective policymaking and lawmaking but also for reinforcing democratic institutions and values. Speaker Awais Qadir Shah stressed the need for joint initiatives to strengthen parliamentary cooperation, noting that sharing experiences between provincial and federal legislatures would enhance the quality of legislation. Tariq Fatemi underlined that improved parliamentary linkages and federal-provincial harmony are essential for policy formulation in the national interest.
