A new cafe that officially opens in Toronto this weekend is all about Colombian coffee, but that's not the only treat from Colombia they're serving. The word 'Ohana,' meaning family, as any self-respecting Lilo and Stitch viewer recalls, may be of Hawaiian origin, but one new Toronto cafe might just make folks in the city associate it with Colombian flavours instead. Officially opening this Saturday, Jan. 17, Ohana Coffee is the new permanent imprint of a prepared food and coffee business by the same name. Landing in Bloor West Village, the cafe will serve Ohana's selection of Colombian coffee beans prepared in all the usual styles: cortado, cappuccino, drip, espresso, iced, ad infinitum, alongside matcha, Colombian hot chocolate, and tea. The real star of the show, though, is the pandebono, a Colombian cheese bread that's akin to Brazilian pao de queijo. In the case of pandebono, though, the cheesy delights are made using masarepa and yuca flour, giving them the added benefit of being naturally gluten-free. The cafe even has an anthropomorphic pandebono named Bonitto as its mascot. This place is serious about its cheese bread. If you're in the mood for something else to snack on (though, really, why would you be?), Ohana also offers a selection of savoury and sweet bites, including sandwiches, macarons, muffins and a daily cake special. Ohana Coffee is located at 2100 Bloor St. W.
