'We are millions willing to fight' - Pres Diaz-Canel ready to resist if US attacks Cuba

"President of Cuba Miguel Diaz Canel in Havana on Friday, warned that if the country were to be attacked by the United States, its armed forces would fight with the same unity shown by the 32 Cuban fighters who died in Venezuela during the North American onslaught. The Cuban leader took part in the March of the Combatant People, where the 32 soldiers who fell in Venezuela during the US military offensive of January 3 were bid farewell. In his remarks, Diaz-Canel said that he will always be "willing to engage in dialogue and to improve relations" with the United States. However, he noted that he is prepared to fight in the event of an aggression. "The empire that threatens us we say: Cuba we are millions, we are a people willing to fight if we are attacked with the same unity and ferocity as the 32 Cubans who fell on January 3," he stated. In that regard, Diaz-Canel added that the United States "would have to kidnap millions or erase us from the map and even then they would be forever haunted by the ghost of this small archipelago that they had to pulverize because they could not subdue it." Likewise, Cuban president accused both his US counterpart Donald Trump, whom he referred to as 'the current emperor of the White House', and Secretary of State Marco Rubio of not having ceased to threaten Cuba and countries in the region. "The current North American administration opened the door to an era of barbarism, plunder, and neo-Fascism, regardless of what all this may mean in more war, destruction, and death," Diaz-Cane said. Regarding the 32 fighters fallen in Venezuela, Cuban leader referred to them as 'heroes' who protected President Nicolas Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores, highlighting their unity and bravery during the US bombings. In addition to the 32 Cubans, at least 42 Venezuelan soldiers also died during the operation to capture President Nicolas Maduro."
