"Thousands of Cuban citizens took to the streets of the capital Havana, to bid farewell to the 32 fighters who fell in Venezuela during the US attack on January 3, when President Nicolas Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores were detained. Footage captured on Friday shows the March of the Combatant People, in which different sectors of society took part to express their rejection of US ‘imperialism’, including students, teachers, and workers. "I am paying tribute to the heroism of 32 of our internationalist brothers. And so that the world knows that Cubans who are standing continue fighting against imperialism," said Aniet Venereo, circus artist. The protesters also showed their support for the Venezuelan people and reaffirmed their unity with them. "We tell the people that we are united. Never, never will we fall. And that Cuba and Venezuela will always be together," said Dianelis Marantes, member of the Revolutionary Armed Forces (FAR). President Miguel Diaz-Canel was also present at the event, where he warned that the country is prepared to fight in case it is attacked by the United States. The 32 Cuban fighters lost their lives on January 3 during the US operation in Venezuela, where they were carrying out an official mission at the request of the Bolivarian government. At least 42 Venezuelan soldiers also died during the operation to capture President Nicolas Maduro."
