Night of fury - Anti-ICE protesters set bonfires outside Henry Whipple building as rallies continue after second Minneapolis shooting

"Anti-ICE protests continued in Minneapolis on Saturday, with dozens of people lighting bonfires outside the Bishop Henry Whipple building in protest against the recent shootings in the city. Footage shows demonstrators lighting fires and chanting against the police before deputies arrive to put out the flames. However, the protesters rekindle their campfires as soon as the officers leave. Minneapolis has seen ongoing protests following the two recent shootings by ICE, which left one person dead and another injured. On Wednesday night, authorities reported that a Venezuelan man had been shot in the leg by an ICE agent. The incident occurred after the man attempted to flee from a traffic stop, and an agent and two others were attacked before the agent opened fire. The wounded man was hospitalised with non-life-threatening injuries, and the two others were arrested. On Thursday, the White House hit out at media coverage and opposition lawmakers who criticised the ongoing violence: "They are simply trying to enforce the law, and the Democrat party has demeaned these individuals; they've even referred to them as Nazis and as the Gestapo, and that is absolutely leading to the violence we're seeing in the streets." On January 7, 37-year-old Renee Nicole Good was shot dead by an ICE agent in the same city, sparking huge protests. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem defended the officer involved, claiming Good had 'weaponised her vehicle', while Donald Trump said Good was 'very disorderly'. Minnesota Governor Tim Walz urged the public not to 'believe this propaganda machine'. On Monday, the state of Minnesota filed a lawsuit against the Department of Homeland Security, seeking to halt federal enforcement operations in the region. "
