At least 24 killed in separate bus accidents in Punjab, Balochistan

At least 24 people have died and scores others wounded in separate incidents in Punjab, Balochistan and Sindh on Saturday. At least 14 people were killed and and nine others wounded in a fog-related traffic accident in Sargodha district, the Rescue 1122 Punjab said. The incident happened when a bus carrying passengers veered off the road due to poor visibility and plunged into the Ghulla Pur Bangla canal in the city area of Kot Momin. READ MORE: Groom among four killed in traffic accident According to the Rescue 1122, the victims, members of a single family, were travelling from Islamabad to Faisalabad to attend a funeral when the vehicle met with the accident due to dense fog. Rescue teams arrived at the scene and launched an emergency operation. The nine injured individuals have been identified as Hasnain (2), Saqlain (3), Zaheer (38), Mumtaz (40), Kashif (32), Nadeem (22), Shamim Bibi (55), Nadia Bibi (45), and Parveen Bibi (22). The 14 deceased include Mishri Khan (50), Halima Bibi (65), Yasin (65), Sonia Bibi (35), Pathan Bibi (36), Hania (2), Iman Fatima (19), Rani Bibi (31), Hashir (2), Waseem Abbas (30), Horain Fatima (21), Anam (2), Haram Fatima (4), and Saqlain (5). Rescue 1122 officials stated that the injured were provided initial first aid before being moved to THQ Hospital Kot Momin. The bodies of the deceased were also shifted to the same facility. Preliminary reports suggest the accident was caused by a combination of heavy fog and speeding. Separately, at least 10 people, including a young girl, were killed after a passenger coach travelling from Karachi to Jiwani, Balochistan, overturned on the Makran Coastal Highway near Ormara. READ MORE: Road accidents: JI files petition in SHC On the instructions of Faisal Edhi, head of the Edhi Foundation, an Edhi mobile mortuary has been dispatched to the scene. The bodies of the deceased will be shifted to Karachi via the mobile mortuary, the Edhi Information Bureau said in a statement. In another incident, seven people, including three women, were injured after a passenger coach overturned on the Drigh Road bridge on Shahrah-e-Faisal. The injured were shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre via Edhi ambulances. Last week, a tragic traffic accident in Jamrud area of Khyber district claimed lives of four people, including a groom. A collision between a car and a truck had resulted in their deaths. The groom was returning from a salon along with his friends when the accident occurred. According to rescue officials, the deceased were identified as Mansoor son of Abdul Qadir, Nauman son of Mujeeb, Suhail, and Zarrab son of Khushdil.
