SEVERAL roads in Pasig City will be temporarily closed to traffic today, Jan. 18, to allow the 25th Bambino Grand Parade, which will render some roads impassable to light vehicles from 1 p.m. onward. The closures will cover westbound Caruncho Avenue, Road 2 leading to Tanghalang Pasigueño, M.H. del Pilar Street in San Nicolas and Sto. Tomas, E. Angeles Street in Sto. Tomas and Dr. Pilapil Street in Sagad, the Pasig Public Information Office said. Also included are Dr. Sixto Antonio Avenue and A. Mabini Street in Kapasigan, the Plaza Rizal intersection, P. Burgos Street in San Jose, Lopez Jaena Street in Bagong Katipunan, Dr. Garcia Street in Sumilang and R. Jabson Street in Bambang and Malinao. The parade will start at Caruncho Avenue and Road 2, proceed through F. Manalo Street, Caruncho Avenue, M.H. del Pilar Street, E. Angeles Street, Dr. Pilapil Street, Dr. Sixto Antonio Avenue, A. Mabini Street, P. Burgos Street, Lopez Jaena Street, Dr. Garcia Street and R. Jabson Street, before ending at the Immaculate Conception Cathedral of Pasig. Authorities advised motorists to take alternate routes as traffic restrictions will be enforced for the duration of the religious procession, which is expected to draw participants from various parts of the city. The road closures are part of traffic management measures for the Bambino Grand Festival activities, which include a thanksgiving Mass and a parade featuring images of the Santo Niño from various city parishes.
