UAF, NHAP, RPO Faisalabad hold seminar titled ‘Drug Free Environment in Hostels’

FAISALABAD: The University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF), in collaboration with the National Hostels Association of Pakistan (NHAP) and the Regional Police Office (RPO) Faisalabad, organized a seminar titled “Drug Free Environment in Hostels” at UAF on Thursday. The seminar aimed to promote awareness and develop effective strategies to eliminate drug use and ensure a safe, disciplined, and healthy living environment in both public and private sector hostels. The seminar focused on the importance of strict monitoring mechanisms, the use of biometric systems, and coordinated institutional efforts to maintain security and discipline in hostels for male and female students as well as working women. Participants discussed the challenges faced by students and explored practical measures to prevent drug abuse within hostel premises. While addressing the gathering, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Anwar-ul-Haq, Principal Officer (Hostels) / Chief Hall Warden, UAF, presented a detailed overview of the university’s hostel system. He informed that approximately 9,000 students are currently residing in UAF hostels, which are managed through a well-structured administrative framework comprising Associate Hall Wardens, Deputy Hall Wardens, Superintendents, Assistant Superintendents, and Hostel Munshies. He emphasized that UAF hostels provide adequate facilities and strictly adhere to university rules, supported by a clear and effective disciplinary mechanism to address any violations.
