Police investigating suspicious fire in central Auckland suburb

Police are investigating a suspicious early morning house fire that left one person hospitalised. Fire and Emergency New Zealand was called to the address on Potter Ave in the central Auckland suburb of Wesley at about 4am today. Investigations are underway after a suspicious fire was lit in the doorway of a home on Potter Ave in Wesley, Auckland. Photo / Hayden Woodward Police said there was one person in the house at the time who had to be extricated from the house by responders. The person was taken to hospital in a moderate condition. Images from the property showed melted guttering at the front of the brick house with makeshift wood panels boarding up the entryway. Police said they would be carrying out a scene examination today as inquiries into the cause of the fire continue.
