At least three people lost their lives and several others were injured when a massive fire broke out at Gul Plaza on MA Jinnah Road on Saturday, according to rescue officials. The officials said the victims died of suffocation after inhaling heavy smoke. The fire spread rapidly through the plaza. Explosions were also heard from inside the building as the blaze intensified. Six injured individuals were shifted to nearby hospitals for medical treatment. Several people were reported to be trapped inside the building as rescue teams continues operations to evacuate those still stranded. Sindh Home Minister Ziaul Hassan Lanjar directed the South SSP to ensure immediate rescue measures and instructed authorities to investigate the cause of the fire. He said that all available resources should be utilised to save those trapped inside the plaza.
