Customs personnel seize kush and cannabis oil

MANILA, Philippines--Government agents at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) intercepted an inbound parcel containing illegal drugs declared as accessories and candies, the Bureau of Customs (BoC) at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) reported on Sunday. The contraband, discovered on January 16, 2026, has an estimated street value of P480,400. According to BoC-NAIA, an inspection of the parcel revealed approximately 320 grams of dried marijuana (kush) and eight vape cartridges containing cannabis oil that had been concealed in cans. A claimant was also arrested during the operation. Port of NAIA District Collector Yasmin Mapa said that the seized items and the suspect were turned over to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency. The claimant faces charges for violating Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, as amended) and Republic Act 10863 (Customs Modernization and Tariff Act). BoC Commissioner Ariel Nepomuceno commended the vigilance of BoC-NAIA personnel, saying that the interception "underscores the bureau's continued efforts to detect and prevent the entry of illegal drugs through postal and courier channels." Mapa said that BoC-NAIA is strengthening inspection measures and working closely with partners to ensure mail facilities are not exploited for illicit activities. She added that the operation reinforces the bureau's "unwavering commitment to enforce customs and anti-drug laws in support of the national government's campaign to protect public safety."
