'Compensation for everything we have lost' - Hundreds of displaced families move into tents organised by Egyptian Aid Committee in Gaza's Netzarim area

"Palestinian families displaced by the armed conflict began moving into the newly established Al-Zahraa camp in the Netzarim area of Gaza on Saturday. This camp, prepared and equipped by the Egyptian Committee for Aid Relief, is a significant step towards providing organised shelter for those affected by the war. Footage shows families arriving with their belongings, while Egyptian Committee workers perform final setup tasks. The video also features families organising their possessions inside the tents. "We endured tremendous hardship in this war, constantly fleeing from one place to another. Each stage was more difficult than the last. Now, thank God, we feel a small measure of stability," said Samah Balousha, a displaced woman. "We pray this marks a good beginning and makes up for all we have been through," shared Umm Anas, another displaced woman, adding, "We came here to build a life." Egyptian Committee for Aid Relief's spokesperson, Muhammad Mansour, clarified that the camp contains '900 tents, meaning 900 families'. He affirmed that the camp 'has been fully equipped' and includes 'medical clinics, soup kitchens (takaya), schools, water wells, and desalinated water supplies'. Earlier in the day, the Egyptian Committee announced in a statement that it had "begun the settlement process in the Al-Zahraa camp, as part of a comprehensive Egyptian plan aimed at enhancing shelter efforts and transitioning from temporary solutions to a more stable and organised reality for the affected families". On November 11, 2025, the Egyptian committee announced the start of "extensive groundwork in the Netzarim area south of the Gaza Strip, in preparation for establishing the largest humanitarian shelter camp in the Strip on an area estimated at 2,000 dunams." Hamas and Israel signed a ceasefire agreement that went into effect on Friday, October 10, as part of the 20-point 'Trump Plan,' which includes an immediate cessation of fighting, the release of all hostages, whether alive or dead, and the entry of humanitarian aid into the enclave."
