Germany sees surge in young Ukrainian refugees as Kyiv eases travel ban

Since Ukraine allowed men aged 18 to 22 to travel abroad last August, Germany has seen a growing number of young Ukrainian refugees. Seeking work and hoping to avoid mobilisation, around 20,000 arrived between September and December. They now face the challenge of integrating into German society. As Russian strikes intensify, however, Berlin is urging Kyiv to slow the departures, warning Ukraine risks losing an entire generation.
