'We stand against oppression!' - Thousands rally in Kargil against US, Israel 'interference' amid ongoing unrest in Iran

"Thousands of people rallied in Kargil on Friday to denounce what they called foreign interference and 'anti-Islamic' policies from the US and Israel amid ongoing unrest in Iran. Footage shows large crowds marching and chanting, with some holding placards in support of Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Demonstrators can also be seen stepping on a banner featuring US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. "We have come out today in solidarity with the people of Iran and its leadership. We are following the teachings of the Prophet of Islam, which call on us to stand against oppression and support the oppressed," a protester said. Another protester criticised Washington's growing influence on Tehran's 'internal' matters and accused the Trump administration of 'disrupting the peace and stability' of the country. "The world is witnessing how America interferes in the internal affairs of other nations, and its interference in Iran’s internal matters, particularly, is highly condemnable," he said. "People of this world should understand the ill designs and policies of America, and the time has come to expose the anti-human policies of America," he added. Since late December, protests erupted in Tehran, which later spread to other cities, driven by worsening economic conditions and the sharp fall of the Iranian rial against the US dollar. Demonstrations have included riots and vandalism targeting public property. The Iranian president accused what he called 'the enemy' of bringing terrorists in from abroad. Khamenei blamed Trump for the surge in protests, confirming that the unrest led to thousands of deaths. In response, Trump stated that it is 'time to look for new leadership in Iran'."
