San Roque Chapel in Subic Bay desecrated; Mass held outdoors

SAN ANTONIO, Zambales — A Mass was held outside San Roque Chapel in the Subic Bay Freeport on Sunday, Jan. 18, following a reported desecration of the chapel. Almira Estrada, 33, who attended the first Mass, said she arrived at the chapel before 9 a.m. and noticed the altar was in disarray. “The statues were scattered, and some were reportedly damaged. The altar is no longer considered sacred, so Mass is temporarily not allowed inside. The church looked so pitiable earlier,” Estrada said.
