On Sunday afternoon, the divisive broadcaster posted a picture of himself in a hospital bed on social media, after undergoing the procedure. Posting on Instagram , the 60-year-old presenter explained that he’d “tripped over a small step” in the restaurant of a London hotel and fallen “like a sack of spuds”, fracturing the neck of his femur “so badly” that he “needed [a] new hip”.
