COTABATO CITY — A magnitude 5.2 earthquake struck near Kalamansig town in Sultan Kudarat province at 3 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 20, sending residents into panic. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said it was a tectonic quake traced 43 kilometers south of Kalamansig. Intensity 4 was felt in the coastal towns of Kalamansig and Lebak in Sultan Kudarat province, while Intensity 3 was recorded in Kiamba and Maitum, Sarangani province; Santo Nino, T’Boli, Norala, Surallah and Tupi in South Cotabato; and Isulan, Sultan Kudarat.
