"Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said that Turkey supports the implementation of the January 18 agreement concluded between the Syrian transitional government and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF). Speaking to the press on the sidelines of the Turkey–Uzbekistan (4+4) mechanism meeting in Ankara on Tuesday, Fidan said Turkey also backs the March 10 agreement, stressing that Ankara priorities supporting arrangements reached voluntarily by Syrian parties. "Just as we supported the March 10 agreement, we also support the January 18 agreement. Once the parties in Syria have reached an agreement of their own free will, we choose to set aside our reservations and support the common agreement as a priority policy," he said. Fidan pointed to a decree issued by Syrian interim president Ahmed al-Sharaa guaranteeing Kurdish rights, including learning the Kurdish language and recognising it as a national language, describing the step as extremely important'. He also referred to a series of meetings held in Damascus, including a three-way meeting involving the Damascus administration, the SDF, and the United States, following consultations with US Special Representative for Syria Tom Barrack. "There were lengthy discussions involving the SDF side, the Damascus administration, and the United States. We exchanged views and emphasised that Turkey will continue to play a constructive role at all times," Fidan said, adding that the parties appreciated Ankara's position. On March 10, interim president Ahmed al-Sharaa and SDF commander Mazloum Abdi signed an agreement stipulating the integration of civil and military institutions affiliated with the Autonomous Administration into the Syrian state by the end of 2025. A subsequent agreement supplementing the March 10 deal included an eight-article decree guaranteeing Kurdish cultural rights, including the teaching of the Kurdish language and its recognition as a national language. Abdi later announced the withdrawal of SDF forces from contact areas east of Aleppo toward the east of the Euphrates as part of a redeployment aimed at completing the integration process and complying with the March 10 agreement."
