"Archive footage from 1978 features the leader of the then-People's Democratic Republic of Yemen (PDRY) - also known as South Yemen - Ali Nasir Muhammad Al-Husani during his visit to Moscow. The Yemeni leader can be seen arriving at the airport, laying a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, holding talks with Soviet leader Leonid Brezhnev, and attending the signing ceremony of bilateral agreements between the USSR and the PDRY. The video also shows Ali Nasir Muhammad Al-Husani watching a circus as well as greeting Soviet citizens during a farewell ceremony at an airfield ahead of his departure. 1978 marked the 90th anniversary of the establishment of the first diplomatic relations between the USSR and Yemen. Ali Nasir Muhammad Al-Husani served as president of South Yemen twice in 1978 and once as PM, from August 2, 1971, until February 14, 1985. He also served as the Secretary-General of the Yemeni Socialist Party between 1980 and 1986."
