Syria-SDF crisis - Artillery, aircraft seen on offensive as govt forces deploy in Hasakah outskirts

"Syrian government forces were seen deploying on the outskirts of Hasakah province on Tuesday, shortly before a fresh ceasefire agreement was reached with the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF). Footage also shows armour, artillery fire and aircraft activity, amid the ongoing clashes in the area. Tensions escalated in northeastern Syria following recent clashes in the Raqqa and Hasakah countryside, with government forces' taking several villages and towns in Hasakah province and closing in on the city centre. Later on Tuesday, the interim government announced a joint understanding with the SDF. The agreement grants the SDF a four-day consultation period to develop a detailed plan for the integration of forces in the areas into the state security apparatus. The government confirmed its forces will not enter the city centres of Hasakah and Qamishli if an agreement is reached. The SDF affirmed its 'full commitment to the ceasefire with the Damascus government' and stressed that it 'will not initiate any military action unless our forces are subjected to any attacks in the future'.
