"Four people were injured when a parcel bomb detonated at the Superior School of the Argentine National Gendarmerie in Buenos Aires on Friday. The blast occurred on the 11th floor of the building, located on Paseo Colon Avenue, when personnel were handling a parcel that had been seized four months earlier. According to preliminary information from the National Police, the incident occurred at around 13:50 local time. Upon opening the parcel, the explosion caused burns to two officers, who were then transferred to Argerich Hospital. A third officer received medical attention at the scene and another person was assisted with oxygen due to smoke inhalation. None of the injuries are thought to be life-threatening. Following the blast, the Explosives Department established a security perimeter and ordered a partial evacuation of the building while two other parcels that had not yet been opened were inspected. It was determined that these two other parcels did not contain explosive material. "Apparently they found a bomb, so the building had to be evacuated," said David, a worker at the building. Firefighters and personnel from the Federal Police Special Rescue Brigade also responded to the blast, inspecting the basement and other areas to rule out the presence of additional devices. Authorities continue to investigate the origin and characteristics of the parcel."
